Young Conservatives are Leading their Party

Young conservatives from all over the country flocked to Washington, DC last fall to deliver a message at the Inaugural Clean Energy Summit, and it’s clear that the Senate heard them.  The group is pushing conservative legislators to work together to pass meaningful energy reforms. With the passage of the Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2016, conservatives have shown that the United States Senate is getting the message they have been delivering.

Michele Combs“For far too long, we have been leaving the next generation of conservatives behind, by ignoring many of the important issues they care about.  Energy reform has consistently been one of those issues, and I am happy to be able to tell young conservatives that their issues are now getting the attention they deserve.  It is so rewarding to see the results of our hard work, and to be able to tell our members and supporters everywhere that they made it happen.  I am proud of the work we have done to educate our Senators on the importance of this bill, and I am proud of the Senators who boldly stepped forward to pass this legislation." said Michele Combs, Founder and Chairman of the Young Conservatives for Energy Reform.

The leaders working on the bill include:

  • Senator McConnell (R-KY) provided leadership, and
  • Senators Murkowski (R-AK) and Cantwell (D-WA) co-sponsored the bill.
  • Senators Graham (R-SC), Grassley (R-IA), Heller (R-NV), and Portman (R-OH) provided leadership on many important energy issues.

Ms. Coombs is looking forward to working with House Energy Chair, Congressman Fred Upton (R-MI), to insure that the House members have all the information necessary to support this bill.
