Through its sustainability program, Sands ECO360°, LVS has set the standard for environmental conservation in the hospitality and gaming industries. The company remains focused on meeting the environmental objectives in the four fundamental areas; green buildings, environmentally responsible operations, green meetings, and stakeholder engagement. Las Vegas Sands properties in every region have received prestigious “green” certifications including Gold LEED certification of The Venetian and Sands Expo Center for existing buildings and Silver LEED certification of The Palazzo for new building construction.

“We are proud that Las Vegas Sands’ leadership in environmental stewardship continues to be recognized by respected third party organizations,” said Michael Leven, LVS president and chief operating officer. “Our place among the top of the Newsweek’s Green Rankings is a testament to our company’s commitment to reducing our impact on the planet through innovative and impactful ‘green’ building and business practices.  For our company to be acknowledged for that effort and our achievements is truly gratifying.”

The Newsweek Green Rankings announcement comes on the heels of LVS launching its new corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares, which establishes the company’s core corporate social responsibility focus and commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. Through Sands Cares, LVS aims to extend its sustainability practices externally and engage both local and global communities to unite around protection of the planet.
